Day 1 sees Mark Cavendish win and take the yellow jersey for the first time. 27th stage win for him over his carear so far.

Cav is a British sporting legend who we're privileged to see in action. Steve-o is vastly underrated, what a stage he rode yesterday.

Nasty crash for Yates when that barrier dropped on him crying.gif Video

Yates did a great ride himself yesterday. Still good young ones coming through.

Made up for Cav, top bloke and a cycling legend. Had the honour of riding alongside him (albeit for a very short time) at his Rise Above sportive last summer.

The way he descended yesterday was unreal. Might try doing that down Nant Y Garth tomorrow!

I find it impossible to muster any interest in cycling, sorry. Must have been my bad experience with my Triumph bike in the 50's!😆

Absolutely crazy, the organisers have to do something about the crowds. The riders cannot even ride in a straight line let alone pass each other on some parts of the course.
Still yet another good day for Froome (in the end!) and Yates.

You do wonder though if it had happened to the three guys leading the race Navarro and friends would any timing corrections have happened.

Hard to say really, those 3 had little or no bearing on the General Classification standings, I suppose though if they were caught and passed because of the crash then I expect there would of been action taken.

As a Cofidis fan the GC rarely concerns me, it must be the underdog in me that makes me always side with teams that very rarely win anything whatever the sport be it football cycling or whatever.

I don't really follow one team just like to see Brits do well. We are fortunate in having some really good ones at the moment - across all aspects of the sport.

30 stage wins on the board for Cav.

What a tour it's been for us so far. Got the Yellow and White jerseys, Cav has been smashing it in the stage wins, local lad Steve Cummings solo effort last week, and we've still got a week of racing left!

Brillant yesterday the way Cav just passed everyone in the sprint. Got to say I also like Peter Sagan, bit of a character but a great bike rider.

I find it very difficult to label Froome as "one of us"

Sad, sad news breaking about Chris Boardmans mum who tragically died following an accident on the roundabout on Mold Road in Connahs Quay at the weekend.

Another good day for Froome and his team Sky. complete control of the race and no one except Richie Porte able to attack him. Also an excellent day for Adam Yates, almost catching Porte and Froome - this lads got a great future.

I think it's all over in the battle for the GC. Froome nailed it today

That's it done - 3rd win for Froome. Great team ride by Sky with no one coming near them all race. Also a fantastic result for Adam Yates, 4th overall and white jersey for best young rider. Not to mention 4 stage wins for Cav.
