I'm sure he won't be on peanuts but I imagine the two year deal went a long way.

I was surprised until I found out Barrow players actually don't have to go to Barrow very often. They train near Manchester.

Never been able to say it before but a friend lives in the same road as Ross Hannah. Might be able to find out a bit more.

But anyway, thanks Ross for all your efforts this season and good luck.

Now Ross has gone,I think I'll wait to see who's going to replace him, before thinking of buying season ticket.if it's more untried loan signings or worse still hobson is our main striker,I will pick and choose games to attend,we must get get someone who has scored regularly in this league or we will be battling for goals again.we fans have suffered enough.get somebody in who will give us something to look forward to.PS and a decent goalkeeper, yes someone who is big and commanding not the midgets we seem to get. cityscarf.gif

We offered him a two year deal so I doubt it's anything to do with it. Purely money and who could blame him with an expanding family and at his age, he ain't got long left in football, payday £££

Let's hope we have someone in mind that can do us a job. citysign.GIF

It's not a huge loss to be honest, as (as long as he signs/has been offered a new deal) we have a ready made replacement in Kane Richards.

Ross has gone for the money, pure and simple. Can't blame him at all for it at 30 now but at least it will free up some money to strengthen in other areas of need be

How on earth can you say Hannah is not a huge loss. He is a MASSIVE loss. I hope Richards does well but he has still to prove himself over an extended period so to call him a ready made replacement at this stage is crazy.

Might have to take a gamble on an unproven striker. No way we can complete for anyone with a decent scoring record and suspect more bad news soon when Heneghan departs. Hope the scouts have been doing their job.

How are you even surprised that he's gone? We all knew he'd be highly sought after, granted I thought he would have gone to Lincoln but the writing was the wall that he was off weeks ago.

Totally agree that Kane could step up next season but I do think Hanna going is a huge loss. How can losing a 26 goal striker not be? After the poor attendances and lack of any real extra income last season, I can't imagine the playing budget will be anything too special for the coming term. We need to move fast to sign a proven goal scorer otherwise we'll be left with the deadwood that nobody else wants. Or worse still Hobson!

Why do we need a 'proven' goalscorer? A proven experienced player means big wages and possibly a 2yr contract.

Kane Richards used as a striker with Alabi or another alongside could be devastating at this level, more so than Ross in my opinion.

Used the right way I will stick my neck on the line and say Kane Richards can score us 20 goals next season

Nobody hopes you are right more than me. Ross fitted the proven goal scorer profile when we signed him. I know Barrow have got £££ behind them but really we mustn't have been able to offer him much if he chose long cold winter in the a**e end Cumbrian coast over us.

We had a 25-goal striker last season and we didn't do very well. The season before, I think McConville was the top scorer with about 10 goals and we did a lot better.

Gutting to lose Hannah, but it's not the be all and end all. This "I'm not renewing my season ticket till we sign another striker" attitude is a bit juvenile. Whether you buy a season ticket or not is up to you of course, but don't publicly belittle the club like this over something that was bound to happen.
