On kiddys forum a rumour is going about that he's walked out after a bust up with their new manager and it's been speculated he may want to come to us to be with Burr again.

Obviously it's only a rumour but could be just what we need in the centre of the park.

Quite a few of them seem to think its just a rumour.

Also, would we be able to afford his wages?

What makes you think so? He may be a decent player but he doesn't seem to last long at clubs, and him being an alcoholic makes him too much of a gamble for me at this crucial time.

Fair enough, but I think he had about 5 clubs last season, including loan deals and has a record of bust ups with managers. Still a gamble in my view.

Most alcoholics will tell you that they don't feel they can ever recover, it's a constant battle to stay away from the demon drink. I don't think NB was being overly glib about it.

Tony Adams' book is very honest about it but Paul McGrath's story is just incredible. How he played at such a level with the alcohol problems he had is a miracle. His book is well worth reading.

I know and have known a few people that have had a battle with the drink and I don't mean heavy saturday night stuff.

Two alcoholic pals of mine who were "not having a drink" got back on it and didn't wake up.

Ask Englands well known "recovering" alcoholic, Paul Gascoigne.

With regards to Tony Adams, he is a occasional Premier League pundit on saturday afternoons over here in Norway.
I think his life in the fast lane has had an effect on him by the sounds of it sad.gif

His frequent trips to US clinics and lapsed periods of recovery only go to show that he is an alcoholic who is just not having a drink.
Of course this does not apply to every single case but it is a common issue for "recovering alcoholics" which was what was meant by my comment.

He's a midfielder.

Xavi has scored about 50 odd goals for Barcelona over more than 450 appearances and he's not bad.

A recovering alcoholic is someone that doesn't drink and adopts a way of life that deals with the reasons why he drank in the first place.

That's my last word!

I've always compared Xavi to Lee Fowler.

If you've never seen Fowler, he basically can't run very far so just hits anyone that comes near where he stays all game, the centre circle.....
