I see Hull have signed Jackson Irvine today from Burton Albion. Thought he was excellent for Burton when they played us in a pre-season friendly about 12 months ago. Reckon he's a pretty good player, will be interesting to see how he does at Hull.

Barnet sign Maidenhead forward Dave Tarpey for an undisclosed fee. Torquay sign Bristol City midfielder George Dowling on loan and defender Chinua Cole joins on non contract terms. The Gulls may have up to nine first team players missing tomorrow, the latest casualty being goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe on loan from Wigan. 27 days after being appointed manager and contracted until the end of the 2019/20 season, Barrow sack Micky Moore. The turnover of staff so far this season - two managers - Cox and Moore, two assistant managers - Moore and Bignot and one director of football - Paul Ogden. Not sure what's going on at Barrow, perhaps their wealthy owner has decided he wants a bit of pay back, interesting this as Barrow once owned by a certain crook, then went fan-owned and now a bankrolled club, although the money seems to be going the other way at the moment, perhaps a message to all fan owned clubs, is the offer of funding wort giving up ownership and control ???

Jason Gilchrist - once on loan at CFC, has joined Southport from FCUM. The undisclosed record for both clubs fee (£30k+) also includes a sell on and several performance related add on clauses. The Port recently signed Nathan Lowe from FC in a deal said to be in the region of £20,000. Southport, who will be going fulltime next season as part of new director/owner in waiting Phil Hodgkinson's push for promotion, are expected to make more signings later this week.

Sutton United sign goalkeeper Owen Evans on loan from Wigan Athletic and also sign midfielder Harry Beautyman from Stevenage on a two and a half year deal for an undisclosed fee. Wrexham sign Fleetwood Town midfielder Akil Wright for an undisclosed fee. AFC Fylde have signed Callum Chettle on loan from Peterborough until the end of the season. Southport have released Lee Croft and Yves Zama with Adam Dugdale, Mark Halstead, Steve Schumacher and John-Paul Kissock placed on the transfer list. Orient sign Cheltenham forward Dan Holman and also Newport County forward Lamar Reynolds, both until the end of the season. Less than 24 hours after he allegedly agreed a deal to join Torquay, Cheltenham defender Alex Davey joins Boreham Wood on a permanent deal. Torquay have completed the signing of Plymouth Argyle forward Alex Fletcher on a month’s loan and Colchester midfielder Tommy O'Sullivan who joins on loan for the rest of the season. Aldershot sign defender Lewis Kinsella on a month's loan from Colchester United. Bromley sign FGR forward Omar Bugiel on loan until the end of the season.
As predicted by 'Mystic Marcus', Solihull Moors have started to rejig their squad, out go Wes Atkinson, Ashley Sammons and Jordan Liburd - all released, whilst Oxford United's Fiacre Kelleher who was due to return to the Kassam Stadium has had his loan deal extended until the end of the season. Among a number of targets for Moors are said to be Cheltenham pair, midfielder Kyle Storer and forward Danny Wright.
Hartlepool United have signed non disclosure agreements with six potential investors. Manager Craig Harrison says he hopes Luke George will be available for selection in around two weeks. A word of caution, George has been 'a couple of weeks' away from full fitness since the end of November. Prior to that the player missed the first 17 league and cup matches with a hamstring injury before making his debut as an 89th minute sub against Sutton last October. George went on to feature in four more games before pulling up in training after complaining of hamstring pains. His miserable fitness record led to an unflattering, (though probably accurate) assessment of his Hartlepool career to date in a local papers assessment of Craig Harrisons signings -
Luke George
2/10
Brought in to add beef to Pools midfield, he’s done nothing but add work for the club’s medical staff. Unlucky or a case of a part-time player struggling with full-time training? It’s difficult to tell we’ve seen so little of him.

Kyle Storer has signed an 18 month contract with Solihull, he is said to have rejected offers from Stevenage and Morecambe. Also signing for Moors for an undisclosed fee is midfielder Jamie Osborne after Grimsby 'reluctantly' agreed to his transfer request. Another player to leave Grimsby is winger Tom Bolarinwa after the club agreed terms with his former club Sutton United. Guiseley sign forward Dayle Southwell from Wycombe for an undisclosed fee. Ebbsfleet sign Port Vale defender Lawrie Wilson. Defender Josh Coulson signs for Orient on a two and a half year deal from after Cambridge agreed to cancel his contract. Maidstone sign Oldham forward Darius Osei after the club agreed to cancel his contract. Boreham Wood sign Bournemouth forward Joe Quigley on loan until the end of the season.

According to the Times - so technically still a rumour, the FA will propose that from 2018 clubs should no longer receive TV appearance fees for FA Cup matches shown on the box. The FA accept they cannot choose which matches are televised so instead they plan to 'significantly' increase prize money for every round. This, they believe , would be fairer and would greatly benefit non league and L1 +2 clubs, the increase in prize money will be funded from the new £820 million overseas broadcast deal that starts next year.

What a crazy idea! It will only benefit teams that win, which means the top clubs will benefit yet again.

The main reason smaller clubs get picked for TV is because there is a chance of an upset against a bigger team. Chances are that the smaller clubs won't win, so would only benefit from half of the gate receipts from the fixture, which wouldn't be much if they have a small stadium.

You're right that only winners get the prize money but don't forget that prize money starts from the extra preliminary round in August (this year £1500 to the 184 winners).
Only 32 non league clubs can reach the first round proper and may receive TV money but with this change over 300 will gain from increased prize money and for many it will be a significant contribution to their financial stability.

The FA have now published plans which include increasing the FA cup prize fund from the 2018/19 season - these plans will 'more than double The Emirates FA Cup prize fund from the 2018/19 season. This will benefit all participating clubs at every stage of the competition'.

Barrow sign Bury winger Chris Humphrey on loan from Bury for the rest of the season. Burnley winger Josh Ginnelly has joined Tranmere on loan for the rest of the season. Torquay sign free agents defender defender Conrad Balatoni and winger Reece Mitchell and have also taken Charlton defender Aaron Barnes on a months loan. Hartlepool forward Connor Simpson joins Preston North End in a deal said to be worth up to £50,000.
In the Conf North Southport (thanks in the main to Phil Hodgkinson's deep pockets) continue to bring in new players, this week sees Fleetwood pair winger Dion Charles and midfielder Elliot Osborne join the Sandgrounders for undisclosed fees. Also joining the Port is Fylde full-back Jordan Richards who joins on a free contract leading the Coasters manager Dave Challinor to say “I can, to a point, understand Jordan’s decision in this situation as an increase in salary and the security of a contract for the 2018/19 season was too great for him to turn down." This remark didn't go down too well with Hodgkinson who using the pseudonym Ormskirk Yellow posted this riposte on the Port Chat forum -

Player non contract, why would you not offer your first choice Right Back a deal ?
Delighted to join us and our journey, real coup.
Disrespectful press release form them, expected nothing less, didn't even consult us.
Duly noted and banked.

In a later post he said -

We are very on the ball on players, more announcements to come at the club and on players.
Be patient, it takes time to build greatness.
We will be passing other local clubs and leaving them behind in the next few years mark my words.

He (again, like a certain American politician) does seem to have a rather thin skin, a few weeks ago he threatened to never post again on PC over perceived negative posts from other forum members. This in turn led to many posters to both plead with their potential saviour/cash cow to ignore the critics and to turn on and castigate anyone who had the temerity to question St Phil however mildly, politely, or well-meaning they might have been. I doubt that he would even last an afternoon, if subjected to the often robust, sometimes valid sometimes not, criticism the CFU board seem to receive on a regular basis.

Wrexham sign Blackpool forward Scott Quigley on loan for the rest of the season after reportedly missing out on Plymouth forward Nathan Blissett, who has joined Macc on loan for the rest of the season. Also joining Macclesfield are FGR defender Callum Evans who joins on loan for the rest of the season and Southport defender Adam Dugdale who joins on a months loan. AFC Wimbledon have completed the signing of forward Joe Pigott on an 18-month deal from Maidstone United. Bristol Rovers sign Aldershot forward Bernard Mensah for an undisclosed fee. Port Vale are expected to sign Gateshead midfielder Luke Hannant in the next few days. Guisely have extended their loan signings James Roberts and Adam Crookes until the end of the season. Solihull sign Kidderminster defender Tyrone Williams for an undisclosed fee. Fylde sign Oldham midfielder Mason Fawns on loan for the rest of the season. Barrow sign goalkeeper Steve Arnold on an 18 month contract.
Marcus Bignot says he expects the club will reach an agreement with Grimsby which will see defender Reece Hall-Johnson loan deal extended until the end of the season. Micky Moore has again joined up with Bignot and will join his backroom staff on a voluntary basis. Mark Maguire says that "We've moved forward regarding James Alabi and I'm looking forward to putting our case to the FA at the tribunal hearing, which we have certainly moved a step closer towards."

Halifax have parted ways with manager Billy Heath.
Several sides seem determined to be in the relegation mix.

Macclesfield reportedly haven't paid their players in January. Odd situation for them as they claim to have one of the lowest playing budgets in the division.

Their owner has a colourful business past to say the least, I've no doubt he'll stump up the readies after a while.

I really don't understand how half the clubs survive in this league - combining low attendances and virtually no prize money
