Not sure this was picked up at the time as i have been off here for a few days. Anybody on here know him? How close were we to signing him as he looks very promising.

Principality Welsh Premier club Airbus UK Broughton have signed young goalkeeper Niki-Lee Bulmer, released by npower Championship leaders Queens Park Rangers.

A local lad from the Chester area, the 19-year-old has penned an eighteen-month contract with the Wingmakers, who beat a number of sides to his signature, including Evo-Stik League First Division North leaders Chester FC.

Bulmer started his career at Wrexham before he was sold to Manchester United as an 11-year-old and remained at Old Trafford until he was 16 before joining QPR, where he was a regular in the under-18s.

Bulmer, who spent a period on-loan at Hayes & Yeading this season, is part of manager Craig Harrison's longer term plans and, with Callum Hawthorne likely to go out on loan to the Huws Gray Alliance and an injury to Chris Doran, will provide competition for current number one gloveman Kristian Rogers.

Despite signing after the closure of the transfer window, Bulmer is eligible to play as he was a free agent.

Bulmer's eighteen-month deal will also protect Airbus as he is highly tipped to go back into League football in the near future.

Sounds promising, but sadly for us, it looks like he thinks the Welsh Premier League will be a bigger shop window than the Evo-Stik League.

Having been at Man Utd and QPR, I wonder if he'll be happy at Airbus for long? unsure.gif

The other keeper at Airbus, Callum Hawthorne, is also Chester born. Got picked up by Fulham, then Swansea, then dropped down to Airbus

The thing is if you are a goalkeeper and want to recognised and picked up by a higher level team you need to be involved in the 90mis. The problem for keepers at Chester is that their game has to involve a lot of concentration as they don't see much action due to it mostly being in the opponents half of the pitch. Look at Adam Judge he stood out like a beacon for Leigh against us earlier in the season.

Spot on that bear, the good goalies nearly always come from the weaker teams. They do get more practice.
