Has anyone heard about the alleged offer around 3 weeks ago to buy the club and, invest to get us back in the league! And the CFU saying no thank you? If true surely a fans vote would be proper?

I am sure that if anyone wanted to become a co-owner of Chester FC they could join the CFU and put as much money as they want into the Club, no problem.

If this is true I would hope the board would have said feck off rather than no thank you. We are a mutual club with no private owners, and as a regulated industrial provident society we can't be taken over anyway. I'm more than happy for anyone to put money into the club, be that in sponsorship if they want a bit of publicity or regular unsung donations like the rest of is do into things like squad builder. And odd as it may sound to the type of people who want to 'own' my club, despite all the money I've put in over the past 7 years I'm happy to just have one vote the same as everyone else at a CFU meeting and as far as I'm concerned that should be the only ownership we ever have and ever need.

Agree with you Captain. The problem is that some folks seem to want success at any price, even if that involves laundry and sugar. biggrin.gif

If the bid was true surely it would be a welcome investment rather than see the club struggle season after season,? Or rather to be able to sign players to enable us to mount some sort of challenge rather struggle to survive in non league season after season,Our crowds are dwindling and so is enthusiasm, We need investment as said before but from the right kind of decent local people with football but importantly with club at heart!

Are you going to raise this at the next CFU meeting Gizmo's Dad? While it does go against the ethos of our fans owned club, it would be good to know more about it if true. It also gives the opportunity for the Board to clarify things and whether they have explored working with this investor within our current model.

Hi Pauline, I think the club should already have made a statement if it's true to inform the fans seeing that it is fan owned of any possible investment which could probably boost the club,I know we are fan owned but Micheal Owen is no Stephen Vaughn!

If he genuinely cares about the club theres nothing to stop him making a donation .

Michael Owen is no more "connected" to this club than the many hundreds of CFU and other CFC supporters that don't have load's of money or have been previously famous footballers. These owners of CFU and other CFC supporters are the lifeblood of our club and much moreso than these past "stars" who so often undeservedly gain the limelight.

Good post, We all know or realise the club needs help of the investment type but the club is ours and maybe donations is the only way, I'm glad the club has cleared the rumour up.
