Pretty much all mainstream female comedians. I'm not someone who thinks women can't be funny and I've seen good female stand-ups, but the ones that seem to make it big like Dawn French, Victoria Wood and Sarah Millican just don't make me laugh.

Of current big names, I'd have to say I don't get Micky Flanagan's popularity at all.

I don't know who Nicky Flanagan is, but I certainly agree about Gervais.

I like Alan Davies, Russell Howard, Tony Hawks.

I don't mind the panel shows however I think the market is now full.

Agreed with the unfunny female comics especially Sarah Millican
Or men dressing up as women ie Mrs Browns Boys - one of the worst things I have ever seen. angry.gif

Surprised to see Ricky Gervais mentioned, he's one of the funniest Britain has had for a while.

My list would be;

Al Murray (Pub Landlord)
Most female comedians (Shappi Khorsandi in particular)
Russell Kane
Russell Brand
Mock the week always have a few awful ones (Russell Howard/Dara O'Briain are exceptions)

Al Murray is a big Rock fan and presents an entertaining show on Planet Rock Radio. He's off the hook. bowdown.gif

Extra's is one of the most well written comedies you will ever see.

In one sense this is all about taste and sense of humour. Yours may be different to mine, but that's what makes life interesting so it isn't a case of right or wrong with something like this. That said, what does really annoy me is the middle class Radio 4 / public school domination of much of what we get fed on TV (as that is where much of it came from). I don't dislike R4 per se, and there are a lot of good comedy shows on it (Graham Fellows regular outings as John Shuttleworth for example, or the original League of Gentlemen radio show), but far too much seems to come from and be directed to a very narrow pseudo-intellectual university elite that apparently think Mel and Sue or Michael McIntyre are funny, and this is then often at the expense of those comics that come up through the harder comedy club/pub circuit.

I don't have a list. I just watch the things I like and don't get hung up thinking about stuff I don't.

Take away Steve Merchant and Karl Pilkington and Gervais' isn't funny.

His stand-up shows are awful.

Karl Pilkington is a comedy genius, so Ill credit Gervais with somewhat giving him his break.

Never got the Frankie Boyle love, not to my taste, but then again I still laugh at Mr. Bean

Agree with many of the above

Ricky Gervais
Lee Mack
Lee Evans - reminds me a speed freak
Just don't get Mrs Browns Boys

I don't really have an opinion on Al Murray as I've never really watched him but was sort of aware he had a guy in the audience that he took the p**s out of. I started in my current job a couple of years ago and people would point out one of the blokes in the office, laugh and inform me its 'Big Bob'. For the last couple of years I thought they were just taking the p**s until I saw pictures of him dressed as a panda at the Edinburgh festival with Al Murray.

I think it's completely the other way round.

Take away Gervais and Merchant is average.

I love Karl Pilkington but I think you're overlooking the fact that aside from the early stuff on radio a lot of it is scripted for him by Gervais and Merchant.

I think many people don't realise that the Pub Landlord is supposed to be a parody. It seems like he's developed a whole fanbase of people who don't really get the joke.

..at last captain duff, something we agree on,a great fan of John Shuttleworth, have seen him numerous times, but my wife doesn't "get him" at all,as for Count Arthur Strong,he's brilliant, but better on radio, his TV series did nothing for his reputation as obviously he was "advised" to change the character slightly so it doesn't work as well as on TV.
