A local Chester lad, loves the club, family ties, 32 years of age can come in do a fantastic job upfront at this level and being part time allows him to do other things away from the game like with the horses. Can't pay him a great deal but am sure if we sold it to him he'd be interested. Chance to help fire us back where we belong!!!

The only time that i can remember leaving a match early was when Brighton were beating us 1-6,so i missed them scoring their seventh goal, never regretted it though.(The result which eventually put us out of the League.)

The Man.Utd game of 1961,i had to leave the game 5mins before the game ended to enable me to get the last bus to Bagillt,so missed Bobby Charltons two goals in the 0-6 win for them, regretted it at the time, but not bothered now.

One match i remember when Chester were beating Crewe Alex.2-0 in the F.A. Cup with about four minutes left,a lot of people left the ground early to get away, missing Gary Talbots record breaking 3 minute hat-trick.
As i ran back to work in town,i was passing fans who asked,"Did it finish 2-0 lad?"

1909 FA Cup Final Programme

FA Cup Final programme from 1909 goes under the hammer

Historic ... the programme from Manchester United's first-ever FA Cup clash
SWNS Published: 27th April 2012 AN FA Cup Final programme from Manchester United’s first ever clash in the competition in 1909 is to go under the hammer.
The official match card lists the line-ups for United’s meeting with Bristol City on April 24 of that year — the first FA Cup Final the Red Devils ever contested.

Despite being held together by sellotape, experts believe the programme will fetch more than £22,000 at auction — breaking the existing record of £21,850 for one from 1889.

Auctioneer Graham Budd, who will be selling the lot at Sotheby’s in London on May 15, said: “The programme is in overall good order considering it is 103-years-old. Items like these are exceptionally rare.

“It is hard to believe that this was Manchester United’s first FA Cup Final considering how many they have played in since.
The programme cost one penny but is expected to break records when sold.
“We are expecting huge interest in this not only from fans in the UK but abroad too.”
The programme’s front page features line-ups of the teams in formation, while the back hosts a list of the players alongside their heights and weights.
Although it has a hefty price tag now, the programme cost just ONE PENNY in 1909.
Bristol City historian David Woods said: “Dozens of special trains were laid on by the Great Western Railway to ferry City supporters to the Crystal Palace for the 1909 FA Cup final.

“Both teams were experiencing their first cup final, although United would have plenty more opportunities later.”

The final — watched by 71,401 fans at Crystal Palace, national stadium at the time — ended 1-0 to Manchester United.

Sandy Turnbull netted the only goal of the game after latching on to a rebound when Harold Halse struck the cross bar.

Both teams played in unfamiliar kits with City in royal blue and United opting for white shirts emblazoned with a red V.

The nostalgic booklet was also covered in adverts — including one for Farrow’s Bank, which stated: “Keep this programme as it is worth one shilling (5p) to your children, see coupon of Farrow’s Bank on the other side.”

But years later the bank went bust costing thousands of fans their savings.

THE PROGRAMME SOLD ON TUESDAY FOR £23,500. Have any of you Deva Chatters got any really old programmes? My oldest is a 1944 programme Everton versus Chester FC in the War Cup, a game which we lost 7-0.

Memorial Football Match - 14th May @ The Exacta

Hi all,

Tragically we lost a good friend last month, Danny Lunt, who some of you may of read about in the local papers. He was a huge Chester and Everton fan and followed the club over the country on numerous occasions.

The club has allowed us to have a Memorial match on the 14th May at the Exacta Stadium to celebrate his life as well as raise as much money as possible for a charity chosen by his Mum & Dad, 'CALM' (Campaign Against Living Miserably) who help with those who feel they are struggling in life. They do not receive any government funding and rely solely on public backing and this is where we are trying to help. The game will be played by many of his friends from across the City and we're hoping for a very good attendance!

Anyone is welcome down to the game, which will include a half-time penalty shoot out (awaiting on whether John Danby can be the 'keeper!) and a Raffle... prizes include:

- Chester FC signed football - Everton signed football - The Courteeners signed goodies - Michael Owen signed shirt - Team GB signed shirt - numerous other prizes

There will also be a Race Night at The Piper in Hoole on Friday 4th May starting at 9pm with all proceeds going to the charity, followed by a leg waxing fundraiser at The Spital Vaults, Boughton on Saturday 12th May starting at 6pm. Anyone and everyone is welcome.

If you cannot make any of these events and would like to donate then you can through our newly opened Just Giving site - http://www.justgiving.com/DannyLuntMemorialCup

More information can be found on Facebook by searching: The Danny Lunt Memorial Cup

Thank you.
